Great post. That is a very well-presented video. There are different reasons why people are motivated. It may be job satisfaction, work environment, family, etc. There are also some who have unusual motivators. These motivators differ from one person to another. It is better if the managers know this about their employees, so they would know how to make them happy. Happy and motivated employees tend to increase productivity.

These thoughts depend on "Homo economicus" theory.
but this does not explain why a man would step out infront of a truck to push a pram out of the way, or why the physopath does what he does.

Research show that economics students are more self-centered after their cources than before they took the course.

This is the same with management.

Economic incentive is not as important as social incentive - however the kind of people who are movitivated enough to get to the top of the tree and need to motivate others are them selves changed by their climb.

Instead of the male command and control based economic culture the new corporation needs to look a female nurturing.

Best advice for the manager -> keep it real, remember what it is that made you love the job.

A problem is that in today's visual culture, (young) students just *expect* there to be something to look at, and get distractible and fidgety if there isn't. Certainly there are exceptional individual speakers who can win even a hard audience over with, as you say, creative and lively use of examples etc; but we can't expect all (even brilliant) researchers to *also* be exceptionally engaging and witty in person.

That's a good point that I hadn't thought about much - you can use the SUCCES forumula all you want, but if it's not the right story, it's not going motivate somebody to action. Keep up the great work here!

PJB - Nice prezi - and nice follow on prezi too (your R&D prezi linked at the end of your first one.)

I think the greatest power of the Prezi is the ability to arrange items according to the macro-structure of the argument. (Or according to your logic tree / pyramid. - see Clarity Rules Logic Tree posts #1 and#2)

That way, zooming out from any screen lets any audience understand the CONTEXT as well as the CONTENT they're viewing, and allows drill-down for those interested in detail. It think as we all get used to creating presentations in the Prezi environment we'll take more and more advantage of this.

Otherwise, I'm sure you'll agree - if content is just strewn about, rotated and stuck upside-down occasionally so you get that fun rotation effect, what we end up with is little different from a text-heavy PPT presentation with whizzy flash-animated transitions. ('skip intro' anyone?)

Like you, I'm very excited about Prezi's potential to help people deliver clearer and clearer presentations with more impact.
